10-14th April - Isle of Man

A total washout day saw us in Peel museum, marvelling at a fully functional Meccano motorbike. The next day, the weather picked up, and we saw seals on the Calf of Man (the island off the very bottom), and visited Silverdale Glen, a tranquil wooded area with boating and the coolest water-powered device of them all: a children’s merry-go-round.

We also visited Peel Castle, which overlooks Peel and is totally obviously definitely there, yet the day we arrived on the island, I didn’t notice it; imagine my surprise when I looked out of the window the next morning and saw a very large castle very much there and in view. I wonder what else I didn’t see on the drive to the cottage...
