We woke up to glorious sunshine and clear blue skies, and lots of cold air. After exploring the beach, we realised the rumour of the mad old woman doing magic on the beach (The Eigg Sand Witch) was a complete myth, possibly started by me. The launch was completely non eventful - the waves had subsided to less than fun - and the crossing back to Arisaig was far less traumatic than the crossing three days earlier. It was a bit choppy in places, but nothing to worry about, and we polished the whole thing off in a couple of hours. This gave us time to complete our 3*(Sea) assessments. If only I'd rolled in that wave the day before I would have got out of doing one in the bay at Arisaig...

October is a fantastic time for sea kayaking. The air is cool, which isn't great, but it's not unbearably so, and the water is probably the warmest it is all year. And there are no midges, which pretty much wins any argument in my opinion.
