Debbie was requiring some sun therapy, so we decided to go somewhere relatively close and mainstream, her being pregnant and all that. Having generally heard Lanzarote being described as Lanzagrotty, and after a stunning visit to La Gomera in January 2012, we were expecting a bit of a disappointment. We were pleasantly surprised by the place - certainly outside the main resort, we found it very quiet, laid back and beautiful. Apart from eating lots of lovely seafood and canary potatoes (potatoes boiled in very salty water till they shrivel up - yummy!) during long lunches out, we spent the week exploring the national parks and visitor centres and having long drunken (for some) evenings in the villa over piles of lovely food.
