We didn't quite make it to Dalkeith today - the cold and rain got to us and we found the last hill too daunting! Admittedly it only rained the once, but somehow the weather is altogether more threatening. Billions of midges were lying in wait at the "Welcome to Scotland" sign when we stopped to take photos! Pannier attachment snapped today so had to improvise with a bungee - hope it holds otherwise I might be finishing my trip in an ambulance! The scenery is spectacular.
